Traffic is prohibited on the Old Saraighat Bridge. The bridge has been closed to traffic for the night. The decision was taken by the North East Railway Authority to repair the old bridge.

The decision was taken to carry out the repairs at night instead of during the day in view of traffic congestion, railway sources said.

Directions for the night :

  1. The Old Saraighat Bridge will be completely closed for all types of traffic and pedestrians during this period until the work is completed.
  2. Vehicles coming from both sides will have to cross through the new Saraighat Bridge.
  3. Passengers traveling from Guwahati to Amingaon will take the normal route (New Bridge) while those coming from Amingaon to Guwahati will have to take the new Saraighat Bridge.
  4. The new Saraighat Bridge will be made suitable for two-way traffic by using traffic cones in the middle.
