In Dhaka, soldiers and police with armored vehicles barricaded the roads leading to Hasina’s office with barbed wire, but huge crowds took to the streets and broke the barricades, an AFP correspondent said. Local media estimated that there were more than 400,000 protesters on the streets, but the figure is impossible to confirm.
