The JMM-led government in Jharkhand headed by Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Monday won the vote of confidence in the assembly amid a walkout by opposition members. A total of 45 MLAs, including nominated member Josheph P Galastaun, voted in favour of the confidence motion.
The House voted on the motion of confidence after discussion. There was also a continuous commotion during the voting. The votes were counted amidst the commotion. Meanwhile, the NDA MLAs left the House. The NDA MLAs did not participate in the vote. This is why not a single vote was cast against the motion. Independent MLA Sarayu Roy remained neutral. After the vote, the Assembly was adjourned indefinitely.
The Indian coalition government moved a motion of confidence for the fourth time in the fifth session of the Assembly. Hemant Soren took over as the Chief Minister of the state for the third time. He was sworn in as Chief Minister for the third time on 4 July. The Assembly convened a special session on Monday and moved a confidence motion in the House. Because Hemant Soren was sworn in as the Chief Minister alone, he himself moved a confidence motion in the House.
Leader of the Opposition Amar Bauri targeted the government during the confidence motion in the House “This government is based on deception. The government is just cheating everyone. The elderly have not received their pensions for four months,” Leader of Opposition Amar Bauri congratulated Chief Minister Hemant Soren.
