Amid the uproar over the collapse of Shivaji’s statue in Sindhudurg, Maharashtra, the state government has decided to form a committee to investigate the matter. A committee has also been formed to build a new statue. Meanwhile, the Ajit Pawar-led NCP held a silent protest across the state on Thursday over the incident.

The Maharashtra government has formed a technical committee of engineers, IIT experts and naval officers to investigate the reasons behind the collapse of Shivaji Maharaj’s statue in Sindhudurg district of coastal Konkan region. Apart from this, a committee has also been formed to build a new statue of Shivaji. The Indian Navy has issued a press release saying that the project to install the fallen Shivaji’s statue was conceptualised and supervised by it, while the funds for this project were provided by the state government.

CM Shinde Formed New Committee :

Chairing a meeting with senior ministers, bureaucrats and naval officials at his official residence Varsha in South Mumbai on Wednesday night, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde decided to form two separate committees to investigate and rebuild the collapse of the Chhatrapati Shivaji statue at Rajkot Fort in Sindhudurg.

FIR Lodged Against Shivaji’s Statue Contractor :

It is worth noting that an FIR has been lodged against the contractor of the 35-foot-high statue that collapsed on Monday, just eight months after it was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 4 last year. The FIR has been lodged after a complaint by the Public Works Department. It has been claimed that the statue was not constructed properly. Its quality was very poor. The nuts and bolts used in the structure were rusted.

At the same time, the Navy has said in a statement that it is committed to assist in all measures for the repair, restoration and restoration of the statue as soon as possible. The statue was unveiled as part of the Navy Day celebrations, which were held for the first time in Sindhudurg district. After this incident, the opposition in Maharashtra has started accusing the state government of corruption and insulting the Maratha warrior.

NCP Held Silent Protest for Shivaji’s Statue fall :

The Ajit Pawar-led NCP, which is part of the Maharashtra government, held a silent protest across the state on Thursday over the incident. It demanded action against those responsible for this. The head of this party and Deputy Chief Minister of the state Ajit Pawar has already apologized to the people of the state for this incident.
