Chief Justice of the Supreme Court in Bangladesh, Obaidul Hasan, has resigned from the post of head of the judiciary. Protesters surrounded the Supreme Court in Dhaka on Saturday. After this, all the judges including the Chief Justice were asked to resign by 1 pm. After Sheikh Hasina left the country, a new government has been formed there under the leadership of Muhammad Yunus.

AFP, Dhaka. Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan of the Supreme Court in Bangladesh has resigned from the post of head of the judiciary. Protesters surrounded the Supreme Court in Dhaka on Saturday. After this, all the judges including the Chief Justice were asked to resign by 1 pm.

The Chief Justice told reporters at the Supreme Court premises that he has decided to resign keeping in mind the safety of the judges of the Supreme Court, High Court and lower courts across the country amid the emerging situation. Asked whether other Supreme Court judges would also resign, the Chief Justice said, “It is their decision.”
